Dear Clare Park Residents,

December 2024 Quarterly Report from the CPID committee:

Please note the following:

  • Laborious negotiations with the City towards the establishment of a formal CPID have been concluded and its now over to our residents to accept or reject this great community initiative.
  • To this end the first Public Participation meeting – in accordance with council requirements – will be held in the Western Province Bowling Club on Thursday Jan 23 at 19h00. Representatives from the City and the CPID committee will present an exposition outlining exactly what is involved in the establishment of a CPID – It is in the interest of all Clare Park residents to attend this crucial forum.
  • Thereafter on Thursday February 20 – a second Public Participation meeting – also in the Bowling Club will be held to enable residents to table questions / concerns prior to voting on the CPID proposal. It’s important to note that Council require a 60 percent mandate in order to continue our journey to become an official CPID.
  • This means approx 120 ratepayers from Clare Park must vote to approve the proposal. So effectively it’s now over to our residents.
  • We are pleased to announce our official website will be up and running early next week, go to https://clareparkid.co.za – if possible, please peruse this prior to the first Public Participation meeting.
  • As mentioned in previous newsletters – within seven days after month end – we reconcile our accounts – and thereafter make contact with those members who may have forgotten to pay their subscription – It would help us if members paid their commitment by the end of each particular month. Once again thank you to those members who pay their subscription on a regular basis, without community support none of the above achievements would have been possible. Should we build up a sufficient capital base we may eventually be able to move towards a twenty-four-hour monitoring system.

If you do not contribute, ask yourself if you would prefer to live in a neighborhood without security cameras and join us by contributing R200 per month. Our banking details are as follows:

    Bank: NEDBANK
Account name: Clare Park Improvement District (or Clare Park ID)
    Account number: 1219105260
    Branch number: 198765
Reference: Your surname, street name and number
  • We remind all residents that the CCTV cameras cover all roads in our area plus the walkway through WPCC and are actively monitored for an incident every night between 20:00 and 07:00. During daylight hours, the cameras remain operational but are passively monitored. Should you observe a suspicious incident, please contact the FADT CMC using one of the following numbers 083 557 5512 or 021 597 3505. As previously advised, please use these numbers sparingly. Should you require camera footage, you will need to report the incident to the police and obtain a case number. Our committee members can help you through this.
  • An important reminder to all: Since the introduction of our highly successful Camera monitoring system in March 2022 – Clare Park enjoys the lowest incidence of crime in the Claremont Area. A special thanks to those residents who joined the Dawn Patrollers (now suspended over the summer period) and to SAPS, FADT and all security companies who monitor the Clare Park area – well done to all.
  • So good neighbours- please diarise Jan 23 and February 20 the future direction of how we manage security in Clarepark is now in your hands

Best Wishes – and Happy holidays to all – Keep Safe
